Lablaque Williams
Founder and President
LaBlaque hosted The Poets’ Corner at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, taking over from its founder, Keith Brantley. As steward of Las Vegas’ first established poetry program, he curated a monthly open-mic event for poets aged 17 and older, fostering raw expression and nurturing new voices. His connection to The Poets’ Corner dates back to 2005, when he met three fellow poets, leading to the formation of Griot Nation in 2008. As a founding member of this collective, inspired by West African griot traditions, LaBlaque helped shape a platform that amplifies diverse stories through spoken word. Furthering his commitment to poetry, he founded The VerbalVibe Collective Poets Guild Inc. (VVC Poets Guild), a vibrant initiative dedicated to uniting poets, promoting artistic growth, and preserving the oral tradition. Through VVC, LaBlaque empowers creatives to connect and thrive, solidifying his legacy as a community-driven visionary.
